HETFIELD WIRD ZUM 3. MAL VATER | 25.01.02
James und seine Frau Francesca haben gestern über metallica.com die Geburt ihrer 2. Tochter bekannt gegeben. Marcella
Francesca Hetfield wurde am 17. Januar in San Francisco geboren.
Nachdem die beiden erstgeborenen Cali (3,5 Jahre)
und Castor (20 Monate) mit ihren Namen böse bestraft wurden, ist Marcella etwas milder davon gekommen.
Wollen wir hoffen, dass James sich nun wieder seinem großem Baby widmet.

JARULE TRACK UPDATE | 23.01.02
Wie blabbermouth.net berichtet, wird der neue JaRule Track doch erst am 14. Mai erscheinen. Der Song mit dem Titel
"We Did It Again" soll auf "Ghetto Stories", einer Hip-Hop Compilation von Ruff Ryders und dem Produzent Swizz Beatz
veröffentlicht werden.
Der Metallica Track wird der einzige Rock Song auf dem Album sein. JARule soll einige kurze Verse rappen, während der Rest
des Songs hauptsächlich instrumental ist. James Hetfield war bei den Aufnahmen nicht anwesend, da er seine Zeit in einer
REHA-Klinik verbracht hat. Nichtsdestotrotz beinhaltet der Song auch Lyrics von James, die von früheren Aufnahmen
reingemischt wurden.
Weitere Künstler auf dem Sampler sind Ronald Isley und Shyne neben einigen anderen Hüfthüpfern. Mit einer Singleauskopplung
von "We did it Again" ist nicht zu rechnen!

20 NEUE SONGS + JARULE TRACK | 20.01.02
Wie Lars Ulrich in der neuesten Ausgabe des SoWhat Magazins berichtet, haben Metallica bereits das Grundgerüst von 20
neuen Songs für das Album geschrieben. Ulrich bestätigte ebenfalls die Gerüchte um eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem
US-Rapper JaRule und Produzent Swizz Beatz. Der Song soll vom Style her in Richtung Beastie Boys gehen. Rap gemischt mit
fetten Gitarren und soll bereits im Februar diesen Jahres veröffentlicht werden. Das neue Metallica Album soll
nach Angaben von Elektra im Herbst 2002 erscheinen. Hier ein Statement von Lars:
"No more after the music experiences I have thru this year. I can not in good faith sit here knowing what I know about
the 20 or Metallica songs that were created in the sessions, and the "swizz" thing and say that there is any kind of
easily definable boundaries...... this whole thing about rap/metal vs not rap/metal vs new metal vs contrived vs this way
of thinking or that way of thinking. FUCK OFF !!!! I from this moment on will offical denounce any kind of labeling of any
of this , stuff both positive and negative. There are no walls there are no parameters there are not boarders there is only
great music and the chance that you want to take knowing what your strengths and vulnerablities are."

ECHOBRAIN RELEASE! | 20.01.02
Am 5. März werden Surfdog/Chophouse Records die Debut Platte von Jasons neuer Band Echobrain veröffentlichen. Jason
arbeitete zusammen mit seinen Bandkollegen Singer/Gitarrist Dylan Donkin und Drummer Brian Sagrafena an dem neuen Album.
Kirk Hammett hat neben Jasons altem Kumpel und Ex-Faith No More Gitarrist Jim Martin an dem Album mitgewirkt.
"It's contemporary rock, and there's all kinds of flavors to it. Metallica was meticulous perfection, regimented so that everything had to be
exactly f---ing perfect when we got down to the studio. With Echobrain, everybody played in the room at the same time, and it was more
of a jam-oriented record. We let a lot of things fly, and the human factor was very present," sagte Jason dem Musiksender VH1 letzte
Woche.
"I like to call it 'tomorrow music' because I like to think it's a little bit different than anything else out there," sagte er. "Ten out of 10 people
who hear it say, 'It's not what we expected, but it's magic.' People expect there to be Cookie Monster vocals and noisy, thudding
death-metal bullsh--, and it's just not that. It's very musical and very beautiful."
In dem gleichen Interview stellte Jason auch klar das Echobrain eine richtige Band ist und kein Solo Nebenprojekt.
"I've got hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in this. It's a real record with real players. When we formed
Echobrain, the deal was that everybody comes to the table with whatever they have to offer."
Er sagte allerdings auch deutlich, dass er Metallica vermisst. "The feeling that we got when we clicked as a band
coming down on the chord in the same place, stopping in the same place, creating this point/counterpoint, action/reaction
there's nothing like that," sagte er.
Was er allerdings nicht vermisst ist das politische Engagement der Band und die ständige Frustration. "Metallica has
two control freaks," sagte er, in Anspielung auf James Hetfield und Lars Ulrich, "and it's very hard to get any kind
of two cents in that monopoly. When it came time to do Echobrain and I got to call the shots on some different production
ideas, it felt really good." Bis jetzt war die CD nur in Form einer Promo-Disc erhältlich.
