METALLICA SPEILEN BEIM SUNDANCE FESTIVAL | 23.01.06
Den Jungs von Metallica juckt es scheinbar wieder unter den Fingernägeln. Kaum sind die ersten Konzertdaten für Afrika publik
geworden, schon stehen die ersten WarmUp Shows auf dem Programm. Mittwoch den 25. Januar (ja ganz genau, übermorgen)
werden Metallica in einem kleinen Club in Park City auftreten, wo nebenbei noch das diesjährige Sundance Festival
stattfindet.
Metallica wurden zu der Premiere vom neuesten Finn Taylor Film "The Darwin Awards" eingeladen, in welchem sie auch in einer
kleinen Nebenrolle auftreten. "The Darwin Awards" ist ein Film mit Joseph Fiennes und Winona Ryder in den Hauptrollen, und
wird als "eine schräge Komödie über Leute, die in idiotischen Unfällen getötet werden" beschrieben. Metallica selbst
erscheinen in einer Szene, die Aufnahmen eines Konzertes vom 22.November 2004 in Salt Lake City beinhaltet. Lukas Haas
spielt einen betrunkenen Fan, dessen versuch, sich in die Show zu schleichen, einen tragischen Ausgang nimmt.

METALLICA IM REHEARSAL FÜR EUROPA KONZERTE | 24.05.06
Metallica befinden sich derzeit im Rehearsal für die anstehende Festival Tour durch Europa. Die Jungs rund um Frontman
James Hetfield werden am 3.6. beim Rock Am Ring Festival ihre "Escape From The Studio '06" Tour einleiten. Alle weiteren
Tourdaten findet ihr wie immer bei uns im Tour Bereich. Dort haben Spätentschlossene auch noch die Möglichkeit für
das ein oder andere Festival Tickets zu erwerben. Ansonsten empfiehlt es sich mal bei eBay reinzuschauen.

WIR HABEN SCHON 15 SONGS ZUSAMMEN | 21.05.06
Metallicas Gitarrist Kirk Hammett hat dem Artisan News Service erzählt, die Band hätte bislang 15 Songs für den Nachfolger
von St.Anger, welcher im Frühjahr 2007 veröffentlicht werden soll, fertiggeschrieben. In diesem kurzen Interview, das im
Rahmen der MAP MusiCares MAP Fund-Veranstaltung geführt wurde, bei der Metallicas Frontmann James Hetfield sowohl als
Redner auf dem Podium stand, als auch später mit weiteren Metallica und einigen Alice In Chains-Mitgliedern ein kurzes
Konzert aus Klassikern beider Bands gab, verriet er auch, dass der Songwritingprozeß so flüssig laufe, dass pro Woche 2-3
neue Songs hinzukämen.
Kirk Hammett:
"Wir haben ungefähr 15 Songs oder so und wir schreiben einfach weiter an Songs, bis wir das Gefühl haben, dass wir das
beste Duzend haben, die wir ins Studio mitbringen können. Ich glaube, dann wird Rick (Rubin) dazukommen und sein Ding
machen. Aber jetzt ist es noch wirklich, wirklich früh, und wir schreiben einfach Musik und das läuft derzeit gut.
Manchmal schreiben wir zwei-drei Songs in der Woche, was wirklich grossartig ist. Es sind derzeit nur wir 4 im Studio,
was wirklich mal was anderes ist."
Auch James Hetfield gab dem Artisan News Service einige Statements zur Arbeit mit dem legendären Produzenten Rick Rubin.
Das neue Album wird das erste Metallica-Album seit 1988 sein, welches nicht unter der Ägide von Bob Rock aufgenommen
wurde.
James Hetfield:
"Für uns arbeitet Rick Rubin am nächsten Projekt und sein Ruf entspricht der Wahrheit. Er lässt sich nicht jeden Tag im
Studio blicken. Er ist da, wenn er gebraucht wird, ansonsten machen wir alles auf uns allein gestellt. Das ist schon was
ganz anderes, als bei unserem letzten Album. St.Anger entstand durch Stunden und Stunden an Gesprächen darüber, was
gerade los ist, was passieren könnte, was passieren wird - all das Zeug und reinkommen und hier und da Coaches haben.
Diesmal arbeiten wir hauptsächlich auf uns alleingestellt, da fühlen wir uns frei. Es gibt keinen Druck. Das ist gut.
Manchmal ist das alles ein bisschen unfokussiert und alle paar Mal müssen wir die Peitschen knallen lassen um jeden wieder
dazuzukriegen."

KIRKS CUSTOM-KARRE IST FERTIG | 17.05.06
Kirk Hammett hat sich einen 36' Ford nach seinem Gusto bauen lassen. Der Wagen wird bei der Paso Robles Custom Car Show
in Kalifornien zum ersten mal der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt werden.
Die Kiste (rechts im Bild) wurde von der renomierten Custom-Werkstatt "Salinas Boys" über einen Zeitraum von 3 Jahren gebaut. Der Wagen
beinhaltet u.a. auch ein besonderes Sound System mit einem in den Kofferraum eingebauten Verstärker.

MTV ROCKZONE INTERVIEW MIT METALLICA | 19.05.06
Es sieht so aus als wenn MTV Rockzone im Zuge der Deutschland Konzerte von Metallica die Möglichkeit bekommt die Jungs zu
einem Interview zu laden. Soweit nichts ungewöhnliches, nur dieses mal werden mit etwas Glück auch eure Fragen

HETFIELD: SEX, DRUGS & ROCK N ROLL - EIN SCHRECKLICHER MYTHOS | 14.05.06
Die Nachrichtenagentur Reuters berichtete gestern folgendes:
Metallicas Frontmann James Hetfield kämpfte mit den Tränen, als er am Freitag seinen Kampf gegen die Sucht in der
Öffentlichkeit rekapitulierte, und bezeichnete den Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll-Ethos als "schrecklichen Mythos".
Der 42 jährige Sänger und Gitarrist wurde bei einer Spendenaktion für den MusiCares MAP Fund in Hollywood geehrt. Ziel der
Organisation ist es, drogenabhängigen Musikern Möglichkeiten der Heilung zu eröffnen.
Das Ereignis, bei dem auch der Konzert Promoter Bill Silva honoriert wurde, kulminierte in einem 3-Song-Set von James
Hetfield und Robert Trujillo von Metallica, zusammen mit Alice In Chains-Mitgliedern Jerry Cantrell und Sean Kinney.
Gespielt wurden zuerst die Alice In Chains-Klassiker "Would?" und "Them Bones", sowie zum Schluß die Metallica-Ballade
"Nothing Else Matters".
Ausserdem traten an diesem Abend auch Tom Waits, Velvet Revolver, Jason Mraz und der Black Rebel Motorcycle Club auf.
Zu den Gästen gehörten auch Ozzy und Sharon Osbourne, Motörheads Frontmann Lemmy (was fast schon ironisch anmutet), die
Metallica-Mitglieder Lars Ulrich und Kirk Hammett, sowie der Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Sänger Anthony Kiedies.
Hier die komplette Rede von James Hetfield:
"Who needs alcohol and drugs when you have Tom Waits? The emotion is amazing. And who needs drugs and alcohol or whatever
when you have friends like this here tonight. I'm very honored that everyone is here and shown up for this.
"I do want to take a moment for the people who didn't make it, that aren't with us, who could be and I think should be.
And I would like to take a moment of silence for those who aren't here.
"Dying, dying, someone told me just the other day, dying is easy. Dying is easy. Living is hard. And it is. For
everyone. Not just the wounded and the ones that keep opening their wounds. But I love challenges and it's not an option
at all for anyone. It is the easy way out. For those of the musicians that are up there or out there now, whatever it is,
whatever the fuck it is that you are hiding or got deep down inside, you can survive it. It's survivable. I'm standing
here because it's survivable. (applause).
"Five years ago, things were mighty different, and in the movie 'Some Kind Of Monster', we put it out there. That was a
gift. We were recording a record, let's film the making of the record, then huge things happen in our lives. You never
have a camera around for those moments, and they were there. And what a great gift that was.
"It is amazing. I stand up here and say, why am I here? Why am I getting an award? I feel unworthy, which is something
I'm working on. I think that movie helped some people, and it took the black veil away, it took the mystique and the
mystery out of the rock myth 'sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.' What a horrible statement, to me. It is a myth. And to have
those things attached to music, which is the best drug in the whole FUCKING world, moves me like no other. And I thank God
that I discovered that gift (sniffs) early on. And had to get close to the fire. No one has to walk straight into the fire
like I did, to know how hot it can get. Some do, some don't. It's not up to me. I'm not here to preach about it. MAP,
MusiCares, people who that here care, and there is help, and you're not alone. So don't believe the myth.
"I had all that stuff in my life. I'm somewhat of a control freak, trying to control my emotions with that stuff, which
is absolutely silly. Emotions is what I connected with in music, and I wanted to create emotion by drinking, druggin'
whatever it was and write music. I don't think a majority of the people on the planet are like that. So who am I trying
to connect with? Connect with real emotions. Fear. Hugest driver of that.
"Nervous being up here. It's crazy. I'm in a room full of love, and I don't know what to do with it at times. It's foreign.
But it's always been there.
"I want to thank MAP and MusiCares and those people who have put that together. I'm not really familiar with all of the
people that do that, but thank God that you are around. And for the musicians that need the help, what an awesome thing.
It makes complete sense to me. So thank you (MAP MusiCares official) Wynnie (Wynn) who I met who put this whole thing
together. And other people who save my life daily, I want to stand up. Lars, Kirk and Rob, stand up ... Bob Rock. Where
are you, Bob? Please stand up. Yeah, and my children. You can sit down now. I didn't know how to end that one (laughs).
My children, who are one of the main reasons that I have chose (sic) to live and take the right path. My daughter Cali,
who is 7, who really wanted to be here. My boy Castor, who is 5. And my little angel Marcella (voice breaks) who was
born right at the time my wife and I were going through all the rough stuff. She is an angel, a true angel, and the
glue that helped us come back together. And the person I admire most on this planet, I love, who stood by me through
all the hell and took the heat more than I did at times and is still here with me today, my beautiful wife Francesca.
Please stand up. I love you, sweetie. And I really appreciate everyone being here, talking like I'm the reason everyone's
here! A lot of great things have happened tonight, and all the bands that have been up here, appreciate it very much.
And all the people that have shown up here, friends, family, fans and complete strangers here to show love for who we
are, not what we are. I thank you very much."
